Apethorpe Hall - Architecture
Apethorpe Hall, listed
Grade 1, has a range of fine examples of domestic architecture, plaster
ceilings, fireplaces and heraldic decoration dating from the late 1400’s
through to the 20th Century. There are detailed floor plans shown in the Information
Pack which will help purchasers understand the layout of the buildings. Of
particular interest are the following:
- Early Tudor Great Hall, with fine beamed roof,
and Gate Tower.
- The suite of State Rooms
including the King’s Room in the South
Range and the Long Gallery and
Duke’s Room in the East Range – amongst the finest surviving examples of
Jacobean interiors in the UK.
- Unique Roof Walk
- There are some excellent
examples of Jacobean period fireplaces in the State and principal rooms
and some of the most superb examples of 17th Century decorative
and heraldic plasterwork in the country, now restored to their finest
glory.
- Palladian façade on the South Range.
- A Georgian Orangery, Yew
